Losing another day's pay for the actual appointment. All for no savings whatsoever and the very good chance it won't work anyway due to the vastly different location of our two meters. I love the principle of them but at the moment it would actually cost me money to get one. If and when that changes then yes, but until then, no. |

I struggle to think of a reason to get one installed. If I look at my current meter it already tells me exactly how much electricity I've used since last time I looked and I'm quite capable of using my brain to tell me how that compares to normal use. Where as getting one fitted means being beholden to being in at a particular time, for someone who may or may not actually show up. And any savings available from using/not using electricity at particular times are far outweighed by the associated inconveniences. But I guess that's from the standpoint of someone who spends less than £1.50 a day on electricity.

Smart meter installed and working yay! Man was pessimistic about it as he said the area was bad for them but we are up a bit of a hill and have decent radio reception at home (our car radio often cuts out when we drive down into town). Took him about 2h versus the promised 40 mins but that’s a minor detail.

jda - at last. Engineer here took 90 minutes to install my neighbour's smart meter. I think mine was just over an hour, I had a younger engineer 😅 |

Latest bill from Octopus: charged £40 for electrickery used, credited £42 for exported courtesy the pv panels. Due to that spell of sunny weather we had, and we're still only in mid-April. It'll be dull and overcast for the rest of summer now, you mark my words ![]() |

I’ve stopped getting my Kirk Hill wind farm credit on my Octopus account because Ripple, the management company have gone bust. Hopefully it can all be sorted out and backdated credits processed. The turbines are still generating!

Got our bill today as well. Two years ago this month's bill was £225. Since then we've got a 3.7kWp pv system and junked gas for an ashp aircon system to add to our EV. This month's bill was £38.
