Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I'm doing it for second time, was great last year despite the rain and slight navigation issues. Not gonna be any easier this year!

Also my chance to do the entire course in two parts, though my Fling was in 2009 and I haven't done another ultra since. Have done various support shifts in WHW and DotH though. Looking forward to it and spending the week back in Scotland :)

I remember @_andy at the start of the last Lakeland 50 we were both in. I said I'd take it easy, and so did he. From the start line I walked the initial half mile, he was gone in a flash! ;-)

I know Andy runs even less than I do these days (he's just below me on the alphabetically sorted Trader list). He's a lot braver than me as I've no intention of 'racing' anything beyond parkrun.

Looked at your Fling time in 2017 @SooWoo

You were a good forty minutes ahead of me, so I will make sure I'm not in front of you on race day.

@57.5 Degrees of Pain I'm certainly not "racing" the DotH in 12 days! It'll just be a grand day out, and if I'm within 3 hours of my best time there, that'll be fine. But it's not about the clock time, just having a good time, and hoping that the body holds up to being out all day.

@Fenners-Reborn haha at "gone in a flash"! I did walk the uphills, but tried to run the flat and downhill bits - ditto for the forthcoming DotH.

Ha ha @Fenners-Reborn !!

2017 was probably one of my “best” running years. Nowhere near that now so you’ll be comfortably ahead of me this time I reckon 😀

Be great to see you both, if only at the start ;-)

What are other folk doing about the back-up requirements?
You must have a back-up vehicle (car, 4x4 if you have one (not required though!!)...
Who fancies a fantastic day out in the beautiful North West of Scotland on the legendary West Highland Way, supporting the lovely Sophster? Team of 2 would be best: a driver/sandwich maker and a runner/Muller rice opener. Eternal gratitude, fetchie fame and gold and jewels will be yours. (*)

It's Sat 7 August. Come on Fetchland.
