Yes, everything is a bit strange isn't it? I have a real race to look forward to in October (John Muir Way ultra) and Lakeland 3 day mountain mara next May. Fingers crossed they happen.

I'm a bit peeved that they've banned parking at Tyndrum this year ( unless you have accomodation in Tyndrum and you then have to park there ), but no parking all day in the Green Welly :-(

It now means that all the Southern and Central Scotland based runners ( ie the majority ) have to drive through Tyndrum in the middle of the night to get to Fort Bill to catch the 4am bus to get bussed back to Tyndrum for 6am registration - crazy !!

And consider how many people will be doing that and how much extra petrol/diesel will be wasted - 47 miles each way, per car

Then there's the danger on the drive back whilst knackered and potentially cramping legs - at least if you got the bus/train back to Tyndrum it gave you a bit longer to recover before driving on home

Still, I'm sure they explored lost of possibilities and none were workable, wouldn't fancy being a RD for a race of that size, so haven't said anything, just seems really crazy though.

I guess the race has outgrown Tyndrum, and the Green Welly Stop makes more money accommodating campervans on their way to clog up the Highlands.

What are other folk doing about the back-up requirements?
You must have a back-up vehicle (car, 4x4 if you have one (not required though!!)...
Who fancies a fantastic day out in the beautiful North West of Scotland on the legendary West Highland Way, supporting the lovely Sophster? Team of 2 would be best: a driver/sandwich maker and a runner/Muller rice opener. Eternal gratitude, fetchie fame and gold and jewels will be yours. (*)

It's Sat 7 August. Come on Fetchland.

* I may have lied about the gold and jewels
