Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Given that the supporter crowd would be a large part of the problem with the marathon, I don't see the sense in running an elite event on a central London loop. But, we wait with bated breath...

They could block the roads to spectators if the loop was a smaller than they used for the Olympic route, like laps around The Mall, Horseguards, Birdcage. Wouldn't fancy racing 26 laps of it though. Would give a very good visual example of exactly how far behind Kipchoge everyone else is as they all get lapped. :)

If no-one can watch it anyway, there are better places to put it than the middle of London :-)

How about a track marathon at the London (Olympic) Stadium? The 2012 Olympic Committee and those responsible for the 2017 World Championships were too embarrassed to have the marathon pass through the surrounding area, so keep it inside!

Can't imagine Mo (or anyone else for that matter) signing up to be lapped repeatedly by Kipchoge and possibly a couple of others :-)

they did the London half at Silverstone maybe if they really want it to happen (unlikely given updates on lockdowns) then this would be an option?
