Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

HappyG - I have a pair of Cascadias, they're very much an in-between shoe. They have the comfort of a road shoe and some slightly-more-aggressive-than-road-shoe tread. I use them for trail running, such as forest paths, but I wouldn't use them on open moor/fell or rougher terrain.

HOD - you may decide I'm not the best person to answer your question, given my professed confusion, but the Adrenalines would definitely fall into the long distance category. As for lightweight racing shoes, I don't know.

I’ve been using Brooks Pureflow for the past few years for both training and races.

brooksrunning.com

For me they wear well and are comfortable. I’m not sure that they are widely that well reviewed but I really like them.

Pureflow 7 are excellent. I wouldn't run further than a 10k in them because I'm too heavy.

Glycerin for me are too soft and unfortunately the latest version 16 seems worse than the 15.

Ghost, v10, another good shoe, if I didn't slight over pronate on my left side they would be my shoe of choice for longer distances.

Defyance, v10, in my experience, a little too harder a ride, even harder than the Pureflow, but gait wise works to perfection.

Ravenna9, EXCELLENT. I don't need that level of support but if you are a mild over pronator they work for everybody (except those with wide feet).

GTS18, not for me, but if you over pronator moderately they are very supportive and cushioned.

Not Brooks but the latest Saucony Ride ISO is (for me) absolutely superb.

The new formfit means it feels fantastic, and also gait wise it works perfectly for me.

Worth a look, it is light and responsive.

Having inadvisadly (due to my poor running style) bought a pair of nike lunaglides, ITB pain forced me to try another pair. After an excellent assistant in Runners Need suggested Brooks Ghost 10 i can honestly say i've never had better running shoes. Really comfy, seemingly hard wearing (so far) - when these become old i doubt i'll buy anything other than another pair of Ghosts

I had the Ghosts a few years ago and whilst the comfort and performance was fine I could never trust the grip level on any surface including road - it always felt like the shoe was squirming underneath me and would slip.

David AP - I had the ride 10's and I never got on with them, the heel seems way to low and not 'grippy' enough

Just got some Asics Noosa tri and love them, Asics Nimbus or Mizuno Waverider are my favourites but I can run in pretty much anything except Hokas. I always look for cheap options on the t'internet and can't find Nimbus at anything approaching a sensible price.

I discovered Brooks Adrenalines when "blind testing" shoes for my first marathon in 2012.

I am currently running in Adrenaline 14s, Adrenaline 15s and Vapor 3s. The 14s are past their use by date but still very comfortable on shorter runs. The 15s have a chunk missing from the sole after an argument with a hedge, but still going strong.

The Vapors, which I bought very cheap in a sale, are less supportive, but ok for shorter runs.

On the look out for a pair of size 11 Adrenaline 18s (or 17s) if anyone knows where I can pick them up for a bargain?
