I had a real steady run this morning at our local Parkrun and would have struggled if I’d have gone for it

I ran for the club yesterday in a relay event for the first time since 2009. It was a pairs event and my partner was 19 ![]() |

Well done, DT. Was pairing based on expected performance?

@Derby Tup I'm reserve for our club's upcoming relay races. Someone has dropped out from the 'A' team ... I don't think they'll want me as their sub!!

When it’s Wednesday evening and the club won’t have a team to run without you things might look a bit different ![]() My partner was very strong on the flat but hadn’t done much of the uphill walking regular or experienced fellrunners kind of take for granted. We were actually well matched. Dare I say it I was well up for it and had a for me good run. Having a pair of wily old buggers from a local club just behind us encouraged me too, especially as one of them is a mate ![]() |

Sounds like a satisfactory evening @Derby Tup I'm trying to get back to regular running AGAIN. Managed the club Friday run, then went out with a friend who keeps up a pretty good pace while jeffing on Sunday. I think that was a good choice after Friday's efforts. Managed 12k of undulating trails yesterday. |

That's the trouble with holidays, isn't it FP - it breaks the routine of regular running and it can take a while to get back to it. It's only in the last couple of weeks that I've started to get back to the weekly mileage I was doing week in week out not a few years ago. I'm having to stop myself settling for a short run - I kid myself that it's worthwhile but really, unless I do a proper intervals session (and I haven't done one of those for months) too many short runs don't help in maintaining my running fitness. |
