That’s good enough for 2nd on the leader board. If only FF hadn't done 440! 😂

Thanks, Dave and CW. I’ll give the wall a go and move on from there. Just watched the video a few pages back. At least I know what I’m up against now!

150 done, so off to a reasonable start. I too am focusing on form. Last year I started with a broken toe so did my pressups with my feet resting on a pouffe, ie, body horizontal in the starting position. This year I'm doing "normal" pressups and they seem harder than the way I was doing them. Or maybe it's just the different muscle usage. Anyhoo, we're off!

I’m on a low light while recovering and will build up gradually 🙂

It's many years since I did press-ups and now at age 63 I had a go and put myself on the board. I used to do 15 or 20 when totally untrained but was rather worried to find 10 was enough at this age. It must be true about older people losing muscle mass as well as VO2max. That's enough motivation to get me started. I have built myself an excel spreadsheet that starts at 10 and builds linearly to reach 5000-odd by year end. That'll do for now.

It's absolutely true about older people losing muscle mass, Steve, but your stamina for press ups is likely to improve as the movement becomes familiar again irrespective of strength.

Steve, I'm only 3 years behind you. I'd never really done pressups at all but launched myself into last year's challenge. I'm sure I've gained bulk in the arms and shoulders. Losing muscle mass might be true where there is muscle mass to be lost, but if there's none there in the first pace I'm convinced we can still gain some!

Another ten done this morning. Doing a press-up correctly is so much harder than just dropping to the floor and knocking ten out!

Thanks, both. In my case there's not much there in the first place. I'll definitely join in, it's just a question of the right amount of increase, bearing in mind the initial period of adaptation. A linear model is surely not right. I suppose there is an initial period of improvement then a flattening off.
