Anyone got a shotgun and a shovel I can borrow?? To be fair, he is probably cranky because he can't run! I know I get cranky when I can't get out.

Ah well, I'm no Jerry Springer but I'd say he needs to be more supportive! Life's too short to be a miserable bastard.

Just had a look on the RW website at their training pace calculator and this would suggest that I'm running everything except my easy and long runs too slow. See what happens at race in a few weeks and then start uping the speed in training for May's trailblazer - although not the flatest course for a PB

D2D - Don't know if you've seen it but, just seen your name in the 'Buckingham and Winslow Advertiser' for Winlsow 10k.

Sub 40 is my No 1 goal for 2014. Have been working on endurance and trying to shed a bit of lard through the winter. Will run a couple of half's in March followed by 10 weeks of proper speed-work before first attempt at the end of May. Any one else working towards this...?

Mousey - this is a target for me for later in the year (after a marathon in April). There's quite a few of us over here http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=24494

Hi, i have just done a 19.41 park run, a bit twisty a few uneven bits where i had to be careful so on a better course could have gained a few more seconds I have a track 10km coming up, do you think sub 40 is possible? My recent half PB on a hilly course on a windy day is 1.30.28 |

Good stuff on the parkrun time, Hellen. Your time is probably slightly higher than most calculators would suggest for conversion to a sub 40, but if there is an environment to do it on, a track is it. Have you done much track running? It is fast, and very controllable but I think you have to be able to concentrate a lot on longer efforts to fully achieve that - I can find myself dropping off pace through the middle 100m of 800 or 1000m efforts if I'm not careful. I think 25laps would be a decent mental challenge as much as a physical one! But go for it, and good luck. |
