D2D . I am guessing your MP is around 8.20 ( sorry no calculator) so do you set off in your marathon at your natural pace and then slow right down to a crawl? From what you say you find it hard to run slower so why is your Marathon not faster.?

I guess we all define natural pace differently. I define it as a pace where I can run chatting and my breathing is not at all laboured. It feels easy and I feel like I could keep going all day, for me that is about 9mm which is about 1 min SLOWER than MP.

USB - Not been out your way to nick zones off you in a while! - must do soon as I'm getting a bit bored doing the same routes near me.

All the best for Wilmslow Brian. I reckon you'll smash that PB :-)
Is Silverstone reasonably flat? I assume so!

Thanks - Silverstone is nice and flat, so flat that the one bit where you go over a very small road bridge on the course nearly finished me of.

Hellen - My current mara on a flat course is 3.41 but I ran 3.36 at Gloucester which is a hilly course so I'm guessing I'd be faster on a flat course now.

I'm running Cotswold Mara Sunday which is even hillier than Gloucester so will be interesting to see how that goes!

Yes, I usually just slow with the distance. I start out about 7.3m/m I'd say which is too fast I know.

The trouble I have with marathons though, is that I have problems taking on fuel as everything makes me feel sick. At Gloucester though I was able to leave some mini Coke cans at a feed station which I lapped past 3 times so that's the first time in 8 marathons that I haven't hit the wall. Planning on doing that again on Sunday :-)

It was really hot last year when I did it, luckily the wind was ok. Worst thing was being able to hear the announcement on the tanoy that the winner had finished and I was still on mile 9 or something like that.
