Superb event as usual. I had bit of an off-day, and clocked an almost identical time to 2 years ago, although didn't feel like I suffered quite as much!

Brilliant event, friendly organisers/participants, well catered en route. MURDER on my dodgy feet (big-toe arthritis) in fell shoes that seemed obligatory given the reported muddiness of the course. On balance, I'm not sure I couldn't have actually RUN a lot more of it in trail/road shoes with some cushioning to them, but that's down to my condition and not a criticism of the pre-race advice. I also think there's a big advantage in having done it before, so you don't have to keep stopping to faff with the course notes and map. The signage in places was unhelpful for a first-timer - in particular the "Control Point Ahead" notice on the SAME GATE as the actual control point dibber thingy and right after the most stressful ascent of the entire course! The preceding 4 checkpoints having all been manned, I was conditioned to think I was approaching a further manned point, didn't notice the dibber and went through untimed. At least they were kind enough not to DQ me for the mistake! My rubbish time leaves me with a sense of unfinished business: despite tripping and banging my head on Froggatt Edge, I'll be back. Probably need a foot operation first, though.
