ktrose1981 They altered the course due to flooding so we started the other side of the V10 on the redway then ran up to the canal and onto the normal route. There were still a few large puddles covering the path at points that we had to dodge round. They made the course slightly longer so that we would not get any unrealistic pbs apparently but I don't think this was necessary. I recorded 3.22 miles on my garmin. I took the run steady and used it as a warm up for Richard's coaching assessment at the track. I finished in position 129, with 291 calories burnt and averaging 8.34 minute miles. There were lots of people there as we actually had blue skies and sunshine! Redway Runners, Milton Keynes Lakeside Runners 24:14 26:04 27:35 53.41

About this parkrun

First ever parkrun for me. Of special note is the zig zag climb up some big steps before a nice lap of the lake. Haven't been back since Bedford parkrun started, but I remember it with fondness, especially when there was snow and the lake froze over.

An award winning single lap parkrun around Willen Lake - without a doubt road shoes.

A lovely one lap course entirely on good paths. One steep zig-zag after one mile the only climb. Is popular, can get congested.

One lap course regularly voted best/prettiest parkrun. 600ish runners every week. Single lap. All relatively flat except the famous 'zigzags' just after mile 1 which are the disabled access to the park. Loads to see. Definitely road shoes

Tough first half and absolutely stunning second half, what more could you want

Big event, including runs along canal towpath, some steep zig-zags up a hill, then a downhill section before finishing with a lap of Willen Lake. Bandstand finish. There have been different versions of this parkrun, the current route is the best.

big event scenic park & lakeside, long queues for an expensive coffee

Scenic route taking in the canal and lake. Tends to get a bit bottle necked at the start so unless you're near the front you can lose time there. Zig zags also slow you down a bit but from there it's downhill and round lake. Can get very busy too.
