I've had a couple of pairs of altras (on & off road) and my biggest criticism is how quickly the sole wore down. Both were mostly bare after ~ 200 miles. YMMV.

Another one here that does one-legged tooth-brushing. There used to be a thread about it: Do you flamingo?

Just bought a pair of Trailtalon 235s. Not run in them yet but just putting them on around the house they feel great! These have replaced the Trailtalon 250 -it's essentially the same shoe but the foam padding around the heel and ankle is a bit thinner (a good thing), the stitched toe rand is replaced by a welded overlay and I would say they are about 5mm longer too (also a good thing as I felt a little short for their size). They feel like the roadtalon 240 should have felt.

If you're a fan of the original Trailroc 235/245 you'll love these!

That's useful to know, SSLHP. I like the Trailroc 245.

My birthday is coming up and i usually stock up on running shoes but have been out for a year with a running injury so have lost track with models. My next pair is the old inov8 195 which i purchased 2 years ago and stashed in the garage. There has been some discussion on here regarding 195 v2. Has anyone used these and if so how are they lasting? I wear the precision fit (or the orginal width fitting).

I have both. LOVE the original f-lite 195 and on have a few more miles left on my last pair (have a shiny new pair of 232s though). The 195v2 does feel like a different shoe -a little stiffer in it's upper construction around the ankle/heel but the outsole, whilst looking soft and squishy, actually isn't. I've done a couple of runs in them and they feel great -very similar feel to the Road X 233s. I would imagine they'd last just as long as the original 195s

Me again!

I will undoubtably get back to vibrams when I’ve got myself fixed properly but in the meantime I will wear my inov8’s and I’ve just found some zero drop flites there’s not much wrong with my current ones (bit wear on outer heel) which are 3mm drop but do you experts think the zeros would be a good idea & worth the investment?

Cheers for all the info on In0v8 SSLHP - great to know, thanks.

I'd give the 3mm drop ones a go geordiegirl, see how they feel, if they turn out pants then go for the 0mm drop :-)

I don't think the difference between a 3mm and zero drop is worth sweating over. You can quickly lose the 3mm in the compression of the inner sole
