Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The ridiculous modern fashion of wearing shirts with the top button done up, and no tie. It makes me physically uncomfortable to look at.

[Fabric softener is used to improve waterproofness of wet weather gear so using it on towels makes them less effective at drying.....]

Fabric softener also reduces the static in the nasty man made fibre shirts that I'm supplied with to wear for work.

[This thread is hilarous :-)

On a personal note, the washing instructions on much of my kit says not to use softener, so I never bother]

I never bother with softener, because I'm lazy.

I use softener but only a miniscule amount as the smell has got a bit too strong these days. The main reason is for the anti-static properties it gives, although this isn't such a problem in the summer.

Vinegar is just as good; the white malt stuff

Some lemon and orange natural oils in your washing machine drawer are nice too.

My washing will end up tasting better than a salad at this rate.
