Agree re Stansted. It used to be a wide open space after the security, now they've built over most of it and make you snake around it to reach the departure gates. Shame, Stansted was generally a decent experience as airports go until this.

Have you ever been to Jersey airport? It is a massive building with loads of space. You just feel like a very small pea in a very large pod when you walk around it.

A couple of years ago I got involved in a customer survey on that topic at East Midlands. What I understood from the team at the time was that they need the retail/food outlets to offset their operational costs (rather than pass them onto the airlines ergo the passengers). And those outlets will only take space at the relevant rates if the premises are laid out such that the passengers *can't* just sit down and evade them.

Ah the simplicity of Inverness airport; how I do indeed like it. Food's edible too.

I had a warm glow at Norwich Airport once, pulling up in the car park I could see the plane we were getting (Amsterdam) just the other side of the fence. That soon went when we got in and were hit with a surprise, compulsory departure charge of £10. W**kers.

I still maintain that Luton is the shittiest airport in the history of Britain's shitty airports.

hmmmmmm I shall have a think about British Airports.
At the moment. Richard Bacon.
Bristol used to be ace before it became semi-huge. The duty free shop had 1 person in it. Inverness is indeed very good, I have very much liked having a quiet beer looking out over the airfield . I really did not like Stanstead.

When I worked for notable airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick & Stansted, I used to go around telling people all the good features of Luton.
