Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My mum lives on Pinewood Court which runs seamlessly into Pinewood Drive (no turning, just a continuation of the same road). Fortunately as it's in a retirement village pretty much everyone knows their "neighbour" at the corresponding number on the other road, so is able to redirect deliveries, or pass on incorrectly delivered parcels

Usually we don’t have any problems with parcel deliveries, despite being rural and sharing a postcode with properties half a mile away *touches wood*. So far we’ve only had one parcel for someone else (similar house name, different village) which was left by the door whilst we were out.

Supermarket deliveries, however, are a different matter. Even if I put instructions in the notes on how to find us, 99.9% of the time I get a phone call from the driver who is half a mile away where the sat nav told him to go. It’s less bother to do the shopping myself TBH.

I once got a call from a random stranger with the same door number as ours but two streets away, asking if I’d mislaid my mother in law.

She had gone out to the local shops while staying with us, got confused and lost on the way back and knocked at the right door on the wrong street.

I once had a phone call at work asking if I had my father staying with me . He had went for a walk and got lost but luckily went to the shops across from me and went into the IFA office and asked if anyone knew me and so they phoned me to say he had been taken home and OH was in. I had used the firm before or it might have turned worse.

A knock on the door earlier today and a cheerful man told me he was dropping off a rather smart mobile home. My quizzical expression had him checking his 'phone: he'd mistaken house no. 32 for 33 across the road.

[Not grindsome but on the same theme]
A few years ago some friends were going to another friends for dinner but had forgotten the house number and their phone. I have a knock on my door asking me if I knew the house number (as we lived on the same street)- I didn't but phoned the other friend so all was well

Many years ago a friend was going to a fancy dress party. Thought he could remember the address and when he got there the front door was ajar and there was music playing. The total strangers inside were most bemused when he burst in doing his best Frank Spencer impersonation :)

Not being able to investigate and resolve something that is almost certainly a simple fix because that is not my job these days, and those that should be doing it not doing it and not providing any update.

Taking a patient to another hospital in another county in an ambulance, but not being allowed to travel back in the ambulance, which was going back anyway, because it's policy.

Having to wait for a taxi to come from my town to get me rather than a more local one.

Hanging around outside a hospital in the dead of night.
