Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What really does grind my gears, though, is people thinking they can pick any random 12 days in December and call them '12 days of Christmas.'

[or any random 12 days from early November, up to December 23, which is of course before the “actual” 12 days starts]

Precise, Macca!

I got irrationally furious when someone from my own office decided to run a social media campaign like that, with 12 'British' Christmas traditions.
Not only were they wrongly branding it '12 days of Christmas', it was released in five instalments, and many of the 'British' traditions were actually American or generically European.

['Daisy, Daisy, Daisy'...repeat ad nauseam is possibly the least subliminal advertising since... well, whenever.]

[It’s not encouraged me to buy any daisies. We have enough in our lawn. That ad pales into insignificance when compared with “Splash it all over”!]

Agree about perfume adverts, but here we are talking about daisies, so whether we like the idea or not the advert is doing it's job

Not necessarily. There’s nothing about that ad seems to be encouraging anyone here to buy it, but it is good at annoying people. Is that a good sales ploy?

If it infuriates 95% of people, and 5% of people love it and buy the perfume, then Yes.

Daisy, by Marc Jacobs.

And that advert utterly boils my piss.

Some of the others don't hit the mark though - they annoy me AND I totally forget what they're advertising.

Similar to one of the irritating Flash adverts, which in my head is advertising a product called Spray White Dung.
