Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

On a similar note, the mangling of the subjunctive mood. For example "If I would have known you were coming I would have baked a cake".

Using 'of' unnecessarily, as in 'get off of the table'.

Drivers who park facing the wrong way on the street. I'm almost tempted to wish for a visiting traffic warden who's read the Highway Code. I assumed it was laziness about driving a hundred yards further to turn around, then I watched a few pause at a space, drive up to the junction, turn around and come back to park facing the wrong way. Why?

There is; and there is also a rule about parking within so many m of a junction. I was surprised to find a sign the other day explaining that rule - it was on a new-build housing estate - but later in the day I saw cars parked on a roundabout which had a double yellow line, so perhaps the people who live there need extra training in parking law.
