Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve been for a big (for me) ride today and tried a couple of things that seemed to work. One was to slide the saddle back a bit changing the angle of attack slightly. That seemed to give more power. I did it because I found I was sliding my bum back on the saddle when going up a hill.

The second thing was to focus on the upstroke. Not pulling the pedal up but making sure there was little or no weight on the pedal fighting against the opposing downstroke.

I also noticed that I’m probably one of the slowest cyclists in this part of Lancashire.

It's worth researching pedal stroke, one of the main reasons for using cleats is to get power on the upstroke.

I thought that was a kind of old wives tale and the idea was essentially to do what XB said, minimise resistance to the other pedals downstroke for better power and efficiency?

Picked up cycling for the first time in a long time this month, to make up for lack of running. Was all going well until 4 miles in to today’s ride... I don’t think it takes an expert to know this is meant to be attached

Hmm! Did that happen whilst you were in motion?

Is that a pool of sealant? Or did the wheel come off by itself?

As the previous posters have said, can you confirm what we're focusing on.

Did the wheel drop out of the forks on the drop out? Are the drop outs still intact - I can't quite tell from the image resolution.

Or are we looking at what appears to be sealant on the floor below the wheel.

No idea what happened, doesn’t look anything serious, but yes I was in motion and went airborne

Yikes, I hope you are OK and that the bike is easily fixed.
