Busy! Not sure why but after jumping out of bed, I set to sorting out, clearing and cleaning my porch and entrance. Summer coats are now in the washing machine or put away. Winter coats now accessible and tidy. Threw out two pairs of walking boots, at last, that no longer fitted and were worn out. Everything now no longer on a pile! And accessible. Same with hats and scarves: summer stuff stored away or in the machine, winter stuff regularly used now accessible. Rest upstairs in its drawers also accessible. Shopping bags and baskets and handbags sorted. Sorted out a broken blind so I can pull it up and have more light on these gloomy days. Hoovered, dusted, very satisfying! Now very hungry so going to have breakfast!

‘An almond shortage’? Does that mean ‘we haven’t bought any almonds’?

Because of monoculture and pesticide use, almonds struggle to get pollinated. Suppose that is the problem...
Hot choc before making brunch while pondering going to the health club for a sauna. I bought 5 sessions on my friend's membership back in February but haven't been well enough to use them. It is a horridly miserable day so good to spend a few hours sweating and being pummeled by hot water in jacuzzis and hot tubs and stuff.

A quick google suggests almond shortage is due to record rainfall and low temperatures in California (source of 80% of the world’s almond crop) impacting pollination as bee flight hours were massively down and many trees also fell due to the wet conditions.

The view from lunch. It’s a shame the sun is not out.

Volunteered, ran, ran an errand, food shop. Cereal for lunch.
Need to shower and put washing on. It’s tumble dryer weather for bedding & towels.
