The bliddy **RE** teacher gave me a nickname in year 1 of comprehensive, and that stayed with me for the next 7 years.

SRA Books ![]() ![]() There were also maths cards: laminated pages with sets on different subjects and activities on each card (measurements, graphs, geometry etc). We did lots on graphs. Quite a lot of self-directed and individualised learning. |

A certain seven-year-old in his first year in grammar school is eternally grateful to Ms Round, his form teacher, who read from this series of books at the end of our school day. He acquired a nickname from the character's issue with glasses. en.wikipedia.org |

3M- yes I learned to read with ITA. For some reason the infants used ITA and the juniors didn't. I remember my first spelling test in the juniors and spelling *my* as *mie* because in ITA the vowel was written as i and e stuck together.

I learned to read on ITA too. Must have been 1971 for P1. I don't remember how we transitioned to "proper" spellings.

Apart from the two senior school teachers I have mentioned previously, the rest weren't too bad - well, most of the time. The PE teachers couldn't take a joke and someone got thrown out of one lesson for yawning. Most of my classmates were OK. However, looking back, there are some I am sure would be really embarrassed to see how they conducted themselves. |
