Ha! How come I didn't notice? Yes - less than 50%, and now I know I need to keep it that way. And I guess that means that.... if matching my long run mileage over the rest of the week leaves me too tired.... then I need to ease off on my long run a bit - either distance, or pace.

I also said something to Loz about what's the difference between what I'm doing now and what I'll be doing once marathon training commences properly? I've looked at quite a few training plans, and they all have something about them I don't like, so I'll probably just keep on doing my own thing, but more of it :)

Once you start marathon training properly as it were, but don't get hung up about this with it being your first one, you could introduce a little bit of speedwork. This could be as simple as 10 x 2 mins hard 1 min easy and increase over the weeks or a tempo run, within a run of 8 miles, try the middle 5 at a quicker pace. Speedwork always sounds scary but it's not at all and adds a bit of variety.

If the training plans you look at don't suit entirely just take out the bits that do and adapt it to your running. As Vrap said, you're already doing more than most first timers so don't worry :-)
