Actually I'm not in the couldn't care less about either camp, one of them is a dangerous fantasist who wants Nigel Farage to hold negotiations with the EU and fabricated her CV and believes gay marriage and single parents are the cause of rioting, social breakdown why babies brains are being messed up and she would effectively be UKIP by the backdoor, and the other is a dyed in the wool Tory who at least had the balls to slap down Boris over water cannons being used on rioters. It's like the forthcoming French presidential elections which will almost certainly be Sarkozy vs Le Pen. There is a clear difference. Ennui and affecting not to care could let the devil at the window in.

Am I the only one to think that the Tory Leader Deathmatch has been very carefully orchestrated to ensure that, rather than splitting the vote, May is returned with an overwhelming majority to rival Corbyn's?
Or should I add another couple of layers to the tinfoil hat?

I think Leadsom's credibility will be shredded under incense scrutiny in the coming weeks. May has been at the forefront of Tory politics for a long time and hasn't the grey past of Leadsom because she's been a public figure for nearly 20 years and every move made has been documented. Leadsom will be in for some nasty shocks in the next few weeks. The press are ruthless and she'll find that out the hard way, especially over her more controversial beliefs. I think a long contest will suit Theresa May more because of this. I'd like to think Tory members are more rational than Labour members when voting comes around.

What is remarkable for me is Andrea Leadsom could become Prime minister having been elected to her seat on 36,000 votes and a contest with the party membership of 125,000 people. This is constitutionally right but makes me very uncomfortable.

So do what I' did and join the three major parties. Tories are £25 a year and I get to vote (for May). I'll wager that's less than you spend on entering the London Marathon theses days.

I joined ages ago. I could see what was coming and I was b*ggered if I was going to let Boris be PM...

Whilst I am glad that Johnson, Hunt, Gove etc will not be in charge, I'm not sure I am comfortable with either of the options. If what chrisull says about Leadsom is true then I guess I would go with May. Of course she might hold similar views for all I know, but just be better at keeping such views out of the public domain. Either way we are all doomed.

Looks like Leadsom might have shot herself in the foot. The papers are now going heavy on her and digging up every little thing too - she's never been subject to this level of scrutiny before.
May has been around so long that if there was stuff to nail her on, then it would be out there already.
