Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Getting back into running after having COVID. It has taken a few weeks longer than expected but all OK so far. I've dropped from the full marathon to the half for the event in 3 weeks and will run another Marathon at the end of August.

Running is ok but generally hard work. If it’s a COVID hangover it’s a pain…..

what's your target for the half? Is it going to be an all out effort or measured?

Hi CW, my sensible side says it should be a measured run, start steady and gradually increase but not all out. However.... whether its due to the extended training, sickness or 'some loss of mojo', part of me wants to just go all-out and get some of the frustration out of my system.
Measured would be finishing around 2:10 or go for it and dip under 2 hrs

I set out sensible and had a very satisfying run at the Gold Coast half. 6:30 pace for 5km, 6:15 the next 5km, 6:00 to 16km and was able to run in from there with a 5:05 final 1km.

The correct pacing meant I could finish strong and that felt great.
