Running targets: Realistic: 3000km complete Stretch: 3255.7km (2023 miles) in sight, 7km per day required
Walking target: 900km complete
Race targets: Sub-4 marathon complete (just missed in one; just snuck under in the second) Pace daughter to sub-2 half complete and she's still talking to me - win/win, Not really solid targets, but 5 and 6 mile PBs too. Bronze fetch standard incomplete. Need to go and run a moderately hard parkrun, but I'm running out of time.

I haven't set a running target for a few years now π’ My walking one didn't happen despite a good start to the year but that was due to illness rather than lack of motivation, so will try again next year π€ But I smashed my goal for this year in the gym! I joking made a seemingly unachievable target at the beginning of the year, of being able to deadlift my body weight! Sadly my weight balloned during the year, mainly due to enforced inactivity rather than lack of motivation, so that target was changed to my age - 68. So yesterday I deadlifted 70kg three times with good form! I am absolutely over the moon. It's been many years since I set a running PB, so smashing in the gym will do me π That is also very nearly my body weight, as my weight loss is going extremely well just now, so can see that original goal being reached very soon. π

I don't really make distance or time targets, though disappointed that I'm so far short of any distance from the previous few years.
I (we!) did win a prize at the OCT in May so I'll definitely take that. Other highlights, been in a short film and started some orienteering as something different and increase a few skills. But since May it's been largely a damp squib, in running and elsewhere. 2024 - must do better!!
Perhaps making targets at all might help some accountability.

Well done, DQ. I haven't set weight training targets in the past. I'm currently lifting 57kg in my weekly deadlifts (3 sets of 8) my body weight is 60 - 61 kgs so maybe I'll have that as one of my targets in the new year.
The targets I did set were... running 1,500 miles walking 500 miles
I've met and exceeded both.

I said 'in the past'. Should have said 'in the past year'. I think I did set targets in 20 and 21but didn't achieve them.

1. Have a Fetch Standard - ANY Fetch Standard - on the board by the end of January. I have entered a half marathon and a 10k and the other can be a parkrun. NO. I DNS the half marathon because eL Bee! was ill and didn't get a Fetch Standard on the board until well into the year. 2. A Fetch Standard of 77% or higher, based on current WAVA tables since rumour has it that another revision is pending. NO. Finishing on 65%. 3. At least one 80% WAVA (current max. 79.05% for 5k). HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Topped out at 72%. 4. Run my best London Marathon ever. This can be either faster than my course best (2007, when I had a compete 'mare, partly self-inflicted and partly due to factors outwith my control, and ran 4:23:53) or more enjoyable than the time I enjoyed most (2003, when I'd trained quite well and ran 4:41:21, a PB by 75 minutes at the time). Ideally, both, but if my training goes off the rails I'm prepared to go in with the mindset of doodling round at a pleasant effort level, snogging all the Fetchpointers, and demanding a swig of beer from all the pub hecklers. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! I was RUBBISH but I made up my mind to enjoy it and I had a blast. Only a sausage roll at Fetchpoint would have improved the experience. 5. With that in mind, DO THOSE SODDING LONG RUNS and not just rely on overall mileage. NO. Big fat faily fail. 6. C'mon, I know there was another one. What was it? Giving up the Woodbines? Taking up yoga? Paring my running kit back to a co-ordinated capsule wardrobe? Nah. Dunno. Have YOU any idea what it might have been? Well, maybe I got this one, but I can't remember what it was.
I turn 60 early next year and my main objective was to blast into my new age category like a hurricane. That looks like being a fail too, because I'm benched with a dose of Inconvenience of the Leg. But when I turned 50 I had a lacklustre spring and a really good autumn race season, so I'm not giving up hope.
