Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My own progress is dull in comparison but I'm getting there just waiting for a break / good race.

I am currently on 4.06 for the 1500 but this was after a very optomistic 62s lap.
3000 at 8.57 solo effort on a very windy day
800 at 2.02 wasn't ready at the time hoping to give it another go early August my 1500 time is suggesting I have a good chance.
5000 bit of a disappointing 15.44 after dying back from the first K.

All in all mediocre but still believe I've lots to give between now and base so watch this space. Starts with a mile open tomorrow if I'm near 4.20 that would be very encouraging

Thanks for the kind words Alex. Yes Im surprising myself with how good shape im in right now. Ive put in some cracking sessions.

Good running for you too. 4:06 is solid. How has the training been? How did the mile go?

Yes Im going to Watford on Wednesday. What time will you put down? Reckon youre in sub 4 min shape? Im gunning for 4:10 so youll probably be in a faster race. Will be great to chat to you...

I'll be doing the 1500 at Watford on the 24th July and the Tracksmith mile in London on 15/8.

Be good to hear about track tribulations - my next outing is Southern masters for Herne Hill on Weds. 800 & 3000m.

Sorry @LBAC Si I posted the thread for historical purposes although your post might bring some of the old regulars back in.

There's a track and field thread which has been active more recently: fetcheveryone.com/forum/track-field-fetchies-6378/

I've run two 800s this year, 2:11.91 and 2:12.63. the 12 was last Wednesday and had me thinking I'm to old for this distance although the reality is probably I need to do more work at sub 1500 speeds.

4:10 is extremely strong for M50.

Well after a 9 year hiatus, I finally caught up with this thread! I know most of us never broke that 2-minute mark. Adders retired from running a few years ago, I think in 2020 (I had friended him on Facebook), but he did get his time down to 1.57.

I had a great year in 2014 at the age of 28, starting the season on 2.08, then chipping away until a 2.02.7 at the end, which is still my PB. I also ran PBs in 200m (26.0), 400m (57ish), 1500m (4.22), mile (4.45) and 3000m (9.59 at the time) that year.

But the following year I got married, and it all went downhill from there! My son was born in 2017 and that was pretty much the final nail in the coffin in terms of getting any faster than 2.02. I'm 38 now and will be 39 in November, so I do have the masters now, but I can't see myself ever getting anywhere near my previous times again.

The last time I ran under 2.10 was in 2016 when my SB was 2.05. Since he was born the fastest I've run is 2.10, but that was in 2019. I think my realistic goal now will be to break 2.10 again one day. The main problem I've had (and this all started in 2020) is that I keep getting injured, so I have to constantly restart training and I can't ever really train consistently. My weekly mileage is always very low and I hardly ever train at the club now. I used to train twice a week at the club and often do 3 track sessions a week.

Sorry for the long post... making up for those 9 years!
