Oh, FR, ironically this year we've had no problems filling the team. It's been one of the easiest years ever for putting the team together. We're all just getting too old and slow!
In future we may need to impose a minimum pace for team members to avoid this, but I hate that idea as it sounds so elitist

"In future we may need to impose a minimum pace for team members"
No problem with that Well, I might have with getting into the team, but that's another matter
Thanks Flanker.
"Now get out training; if we can all find 30 secs per mile we'll be sorted for next year! "
There is the positive. Some of us need to get quicker (pointing the finger firmly at the old bugger in the mirror!), and now have a target with a good time frame to prepare
I'll do some training for next year then...
From the RNR site: "With the first teams starting at 5:30 am on Saturday this allows for teams running an average of 8mins 40secs per mile throughout the course."
There, I'll aim for that and you can put me down for that pace over 13 miles next year! I know I can manage that if I give it some priority. So on the basis that we can't miss two years on the trot, I'll put that out into public, so you can nag and hassle me in the coming year

Such a shame we'll be missing this but it seems the right decision. Thanks, Flanker, for all the work you've put in on this. Here's to next year!

Indeed.
However if any of our Norfolk friends who we'll not get the chance to meet up with do fancy a beer over the weekend, we're going to take advantage of a free weekend and spend it in Norfolk anyway. Parkrun, bit of tourism, run the along the coastal path, etc
It would also mean we could go to a decent boozer rather than Lynnsport bar, and not have to eat dodgy pizza!

Have never put myself forward for this as I've always known I was way too slow but for the last few years have frequently found myself in Sheringham on the RNR weekend and have been known to shout 'Go Fetchie' to runners!
This Saturday - all being well - I hope to be running either Sheringham or Holkham parkrun so I'll wear a fetch shirt and maybe get a new sticker or two
