Lee Valley double session for me today. The LJ short approach, hurdle walks and block starts were ok but not true quality. I think my drills were quality today - I concentrated, did three x 10 -20m of everything.
But the real quality was the gym session that followed. Only short (as set by coach) but I hit my deadlift PB and think I did one more rep of it than last time, which was prob a year ago.
Deadlift 4 x 30kg to warm up 6 x 50kg 4 x 55kg (I weighed 52Kg this morning so deffo above body weight!) 6 x 50kg
That final set was almost harder than the 55s, I was a bit or rather a lot, tired.

Wow Sharkie, your deadlifts sound tough.

heavier than your own weight, safely and still walking after, is power weightlifting isn’t it? I can only applaud your body and mind

The gym was very quiet - just one bloke in there, next platform to me - he was warming up with 200kg! And there are women on the Ladies who Lift thread who can deadlift over 100.
But it’s not a competition and yes 55 is a lot for me, I’m 68 and relatively slight. Incredibly slow progress with upper body strength … skin and bone, not much muscle to begin with. But I do have powerful legs for my size, all that sprinting and jumping helps!

I know there’s always more and there’s some really good weightlifters on here too. But it is seems a mental shift, if not a physical one, to deadlift more than you weigh

I've got a loooong way to go before I could reach that. Unlikely I will, as it's not the reason I'm doing weight training.
