Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Certainly for the lower mileage plans there were fewer long runs than I'd like. There do appear to be more than before in 2nd edition, and more of them involve substantial sections at MP. I did do more 20 milers than the plans suggested. I have a belief that you need to get to the stage where a long run of 20 miles is something you can do at the drop of a hat. However remember that their target pace for a long run is quite quick (relatively) at MP + 10-20%. For my target MP of 6:15mm, this means a range of 6:52-7:30mm. Now I find that a long run doesn't take that much out of me, I rarely need to rest the day after, but others may find them tougher.

I was thinking of making it up to 5x20's. Although the weeks where you might expect another 20 miler seem to be something like 17 with 14 at MP, which is a tougher proposition, I feel. I am worried about the last 6 miles come race day though.

\o/ Supporting Matt! :)

I am following the plan of up to 70 miles again, it has served me well in the past so have every faith in it for Boston marathon training :)

You must just do the schedule by memory by now, Mrs Jigs :-)

I'm following the up to 55 mile plan for VLM. Was going to to the 70 mile one but autumn injury ruined my base training. Probably a good thing in the long run!

First time on using P&D and good to have a schedule to follow again.

Good luck with the 'top of the range' schedule Matt!

Not the top of the range though - there is the more than 85mpw plan in the new edition!

Got home from work to find Mrs MtR poorly in bed having been sent home from school as too sick to teach. So I cooked a curry and then forced myself out in the cold for my tempo run round the city streets. 2 mile warm up then 4 miles @ 6:30mm Inc a couple of laps of the Emirates then home again to eat. Felt much better for it, although HR was a little high. 12 miles tomorrow. As my working day starts at 8am with a breakfast conference in a hotel in Soho and will end at 9pm after a board meeting for a charity that I chair, I've booked a 2 hour lunch break to get it done.
