Cheers @Forrest Jooligan Saturday was ups and downs! Parkrun felt harder than it should have been, the session with the kids was ok, was at the front of the tempo on the way back (some of them are 15.30 5k types). 200's were a bit meh. My hayfever is quite bad at the moment (grass pollen) which I don't think is helping. |

Nice work on the 10km race SG. Funny place Wallingford, we stayed there for an overnight between playing two local golf courses. We actually had a really funny night with the locals but I was sick in the golf course carpark the next morning. Running is certainly a healthier thing to do there! I wouldn't mind doing some sort of local 10k at a sort of tempo effort to try and get a gauge of where I am at. Solid blocks of mileage there Jools & Muddy and a decent weekend's work SC. I have just booked another middle distance race, it's pretty much the same as the last one, same swim, same run, different bike course. They offered £50 off for those that did the June one for the mid July version. Holiday not long after that and then into the main block for the Ironman. Easy 50 minutes today and over the weekend I just did a standard easy 90 minute run. Sunday's bike was a disaster with 3 punctures so I ended up doing my planned riding in two stints before and after lunch and an hour messing about with tyres and inner tubes inbetween. Count yourselves lucky trainers don't get punctures. |

Haha enjoyed the car park story, @Foppotee. It’s been a few years since I was sick from alcohol. What a faff with the bike. Love your mixed grill Saturday workouts, @LBAC Si. Good consistency, @Forrest Jooligan. Do alphaflys count as heavy and old, @Muddyfunster?! Enjoyed the report, @stevieg. Seems you’re really embracing being part of the new club. After the poor interval session last Wednesday, I managed Friday’s 12M at easy HR/RPE/pace fine but couldn’t quite put my finger on why things weren’t clicking. Didn’t feel rough at all, so cracked on with the planned 10k time trial the following morning. Pace far slower than expected, 6:31s so called it a day after 8k/5M. 61M for the week. I perhaps just need to take any pressure off and go on feel for a while. Yesterday’s run was ideal in this respect: 3M easy > 5M ‘steady’ (MP+30-45s) with hills. Really nice effort to work at, especially as I did a couple of laps of Worcester Woods. 8:18s for the easy and 7:09s for the steady. 89m of elevation so nothing crazy, but certainly enough to keep it interesting. |

@Sorequads well it’s all relative to this years lightweight racers … shoe technology seems to be moving forward at a pace. @Forrest Jooligan thanks but I’m signed up for Pitchcroft 10k on the 16th - county champs. |

Another hard 3,000 last night at Wimbledon, tried to hang onto 75's and hopefully nick a sub 9.20. Was on track until 2 laps to go when the wheels fell off and ended up with 9.29. Quads just gave up. Stomach was slightly dodgy before the race, don't think it helped. |

@Forrest Jooligan Afraid I've probably got a race that night, part of the new lot's champs. I probably shouldn't get too into it to be honest, as the way it works you could actually beat someone about 18 times and STILL not win outright ![]() |

Oh no, @Forrest Jooligan, I may have to miss Blaisdon 😞. We due back from holiday late afternoon of the 15th. Half an eye though on @Muddyfunster’s suggestion of Pitchcroft the following day. Good work on the double, @Forrest Jooligan. As you say, don’t imagine anything less than a calm stomach would help in a race that fast, @LBAC Si. Cracking effort though. On Tuesday the forecast for the following day was 11C with 2mph winds at 0500 or 25C with 14mph at 1700. Plumped for early doors even though this means an unfuelled session. Lovely conditions on the local grass track and great to have the place to myself. 2 x (1200, 1200, 1600) off 400 jogs with 800 half way through. Pretty slow with 4:33, 4:33, 6:11, 4:40, 4:41, 6:20 built interested in just getting it done at the right effort level. 10M at 7:07s and just about back in time to make some packed lunches. Little 3M jog after school at nearly 9m/m. Meant to be short recovery today before 14M and 12M Friday and Saturday. But a bit of re juggling saw the 12M today. ‘Easy’ required and pleasantly surprised to see 8:06 pace for sub-130 HR. |

And I didn't want to give any sort of impression i'd cruised that race. It was still a solid effort, but one in hindsight more akin to a tempo than a flat out - similar to Maidenhead 10 really. Swerving the next club champs race. The hilly Cliveden 10k. Silly start time 7.15pm on a Sat eve. There's not a chance in heck I'll be able to get myself up for a Sat night, hot, offroad, hilly race 🤣 |

Wheels off for SC is a 9.29. That'd be a bloody getting a lift on someone else's wheels for me, and I dare say most of the thread |
