But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Parkruns are great, aren't they? But inaugural parkruns are something else - a place where new and not so new parkrunners come together to celebrate the launch of another great event.

However, parkrun HQ don't like to publicise these too much so as not to get too big a crowd in for the local organising team, which is very reasonable. It's either the Monday of the week of the launch, via The parkrun Show Podcast that you officially find out, or via the national parkrun facebook page on the Friday (day) before the event.

I know a good number of fetchies, including myself, enjoy getting to the inaugurals, so I wondered if you might post on here when an event that you know of is going to start? FOr one thing it can save a fortune on hotel bookings if you can know about them far enough in advance to get a 'cheap' room :-)

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
