Ian, I think it must be the distance. I've only ever gone as far as ten in training runs and have done 2 half marathons (not particularly successfully!)
The first half of last nights run was along the canal path and the surface was quite uneven. I think this did for my legs.

FR
done it with my 5K and 10K results and my 1500 have also done a beep test all say mid to high 50s
Morning Andrew
I never log my training as that would mean taking it far to seriously and as a fun runner I could not have that spoil my joy of running.
Good job Ian

Morning all. DNR today. Two races this weekend.
Gobi - do you think racing 5K BPTT will have much of a negative impact on my potential in my 10K race on Sunday?

Thanks Gobi.
Puddington, if you have only ever run 10 miles then all of a sudden ramping it up to 16 is a 60% increase! Too much too soon!
Try doing 11 or 12 for a few runs, then maybe 13 -14 for some more runs and then 14 - 16 over a period of many weeks.
For example what I did was do two runs at 12, two runs at 13 then two runs at 10 - it's important to step back before you go forward again. Carry on like this and in a couple of months you should be runing 16 miles relatively easily
I know it may sound like a long process but that's because it is if you want to do it correctly

Puddington "2 half marathons (not particularly successfully!)" - a 2:03 and a 2:06 ? Not exactly snail-pace ! Hopefully the longer slower training will increase your stamina base and enable you to push on in the last few miles of your next half, instead of maybe hanging on ? Now stop putting yourself down young lady
..and the rest of you get on the vitamin C and echinacea - and don't pass that cold over here

Lol , thanks Danny.
Relatively, they felt unsuccessful because I desperately wanted to go under 2 hours each time, but I was foolish in not doing long enough in training.
Both times the wheels fell off by 10 miles!
That was exactly the idea last night Danny, to build up some stamina, but I think I went a bit too far.
