DrDan
I'll take your Oct 2011 and raise you to July 2011.
Lake Vyrnwy HM on Sunday as a 5 weeks-to-Abingdon fitness/pace tester... but a massive low pressure with gale force winds will be arriving at the same time.

Davie. That's why sub lt was this morning. It was at just under 80% so not all that hard. Will see how it goes before I decide if I repeat it.

davie - thought I would report back on the Parkrun day after sub LT. Went OK, 19:19 which is 30s off my PB but pacing was crap with something like 6:01, 6:15, 6:19. 2nd half was into a wind and I was suffering for the 5:44 pace in the first quarter mile. Legs however held up well and it was part of an 11 mile overall run. Avge pace 6:11mm, faster since I started HADD at end APril has been 7:19mm Will see how I am tomorrow though

Nice run Bazo, and good luck tomorrow DrDan.
I've just twigged what Davie has been going on about on the Fetch Garmin imports - the averages are wrong. The mile splits are right, but the average for the run is (always) too low. No great shakes in itself, but that average number drives the "beats per mile" calculation, which I do care about. I've not improved as much as I thought (and I don't know when the error started occurring...).

Lol Happy - it was like a new experience and to be honest I was pretty nervous stood at the start, no idea what pace I could hit and hold. First mile felt great, biggest plus was my breathing which was so in control and much more so than the group of heavy breathers on my shoulder. said heavy breathers however took me down in the latter stages.
Teknik, I think the error started occurrring when the new uplioad thing started a couple of months back....its only a few beats out usually, but it can be crucial !

I like it to be accurate, as I go by the % max to compare like with like runs. The beats per mile is good for tracking fitness progress. I'm pretty sure it came with the new uploader. I think fetch is calculating the HR rather than taking the info from the garmin. I wonder if it's to do with pausing during a run?
Baz - nice 5k, well done. It's great suddenly getting the chance to go loads faster than you train, and I quite like that first race where you've no idea what sort of pace you can realistically hold. 5ks I usually end up disappointed but 10k/HM it's usually a surprise just how high a pace you can maintain and stay strong right to the end.
In 3 weeks I'll be wondering what sort of pace to run GSR at

davie - I am interested in your disappointing 5k but good 10k/HM experience.
My avge pace yesterday was 6:11mm.....I am doing a 10k next week and have half an eye on what is my weakest PB but that would need 6:20mm pace which isnt much slower than 5k yesterday. Does that sound feasible ? Then I have the Glasgow Half where I dont think a PB is possible as that would require 6:28mm pace.
Whats your thoughts based on your racing experience ?
