When I read it back it does seem ridiculous Paul, and I agree. It's not been a conscious decision to be anti-fuelling or whatever. Just that I've never got my arse in gear and prepared properly, or considered the true value of making sure I was properly fuelled through a (marathon) race.
Hopefully when I race the distance next time I will be able to reap the benefits in the last few miles. On the flipside, although my mara PB is pretty poor compared to my current halfPB, I have had other non-fuelling issues. Before that my mara was basically HMx2 + 15. I didn't run a half before Edinburgh 11 and was probably in about low 2.5x shape, but ran far too fast in the heat and DNF'd at 20 miles. After my 1.17 at Alloa in 2012 I got injured and didn't run for 2 weeks before Lochaber and still tried to go off at 2.45 pace which was a big mistake and I died a death at about 19 miles and traipsed home feeling sorry for myself 3.05.
Next time.... no injuries, proper fuelling...

FR
When I started running marathons, I'd get to mile 18-20 and feel absolutely starving even though I'd taken on board liquid calories.
Now that doesn't happen, although I still take on Hi5 4:1.
For Ultra's, running (walking) at lower intensities, I never feel hungry.
But esteemed wisdom suggests you should consume 100-200 calories per hour.

I'm a big fan of Hi5 4:1 too FR - anything else gives me 'ishoos'
This week's subLT went well - levelled out at 81% (down 1.50%) and managed a no-fade 7:28mm, a good 14 second improvement. Fingers crossed it wasn't a one-off...:)

Well done Teknik.
Decent sub LT for me this morning, although I had HRM issues for the first couple of miles with it first reading 90+ for a while, and then showing mid 60s during the second mile. It settled after this though and came in at 80.6% for the last 8 miles. 6.51/mile average

had a sorry run last night Legs felt tired from the off really but persevered with the LT section. I havent downloaded the stats yet but I know I drifted considerably in the last few miles. Plus I felt trashed. Ditched todays run and cycled to work instead. **sigh**

Sometimes we just need a day off to freshen up jog-on. You'll be back to normal tomorrow.

I had a great 75% run last night at fastest pace ever. Due to circumstances my sub lt was this morning and was pretty diss appointing. However given the gap between the two runs and the weather I guess I did not too bad really.
Planning parkrun tomorrow so given my fastest mike since April has been 7:19 will be interesting to see how close to 6mm pace I can get tomorrow.
