Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

taking the mudtalon speeds for a 45+ mile trip (mostly walk, probably) around PWIAD this weekend. Will be interesting to see how they cope with the bits of tarmac and hard pack.

mudtalons coped really well with the mddiest of mud, even contouring a gloopy field and steep descents didn't require any extra attention. They even coped well with the couple of mile of diversion via road due to a bridge being out. Feet muddy but unmarked after.

They aren't a warm shoe though. The nylon upper seems tough, drains well, but doesn't retain much heat and lets the wind through. And they are not great on slimy cobbles, but what is?

In short, the best winter shoe I've had. As comfy as the Trailfly, grip is as good if not better than a mudclaw and certainly more comfortable over long distance, and a very stable ride even on broken surfaces.

Run up from Hathersage to Stanage and Higgir Tor today. Boggy on top and seriously windy. Great fun except my friend is far too fast for me these days 😂

Showed my trails are great until they hit muddy decents and then not so good. Will probably need to upgrade before any serious fell races.

Dave's right about the even softer sticky rubber wearing quickly. Mine are noticeable shortened after 83 miles. The few miles of road at the weekend probably didn't help, but on long events it's not unusual to have short road sections linking area of fell together.

Looking at Stephen Wilsons (granddayoutphotography) Facebook posts looks like Ben Rothery took quite a tumble to win BB Kong today!
