Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I took the dog for a short walk, took it slowly as she’s a big old thing and it’s hot. Our drive is on a slope and I managed to cockle over on the grass verge and fall onto my knees heading down the drive.

I had no option but to put my hands out too but thankfully no real damage done there but my bad hand is starting to feel a bit stiff. What a plonker.

I need to give up wearing fit flops for walking - both times I’ve fallen, I was wearing them 🤷‍♀️

CW, just as a matter of interest do you fall over with the same frequency when running off road?

Hi NE, I don’t really fall over that much, but it does go up when I’m marathon training as I think I am running tired more. If I remember correctly I’ve fallen over 3 times in lockdown but I’ve been doing quite high mileage for me.

Most of my falls are on uneven ground where my knee lift is too low and I stub my toe on a root or rock and I’m too tired to move my legs quick enough to avoid the fall. Saying that, 1 of the three falls recently was because I got my heels clipped by a puppy off the lead that ran after me after I passed him.

I understand, I'm guilty of not picking my feet up properly when I'm tired. I just wondered, because I rarely fall over on really technical terrain and steep descents (when I do it tends to be quite spectacular) and more often than not my falls are just as you described, stubbing my toe on a rock and then going flying.

Fell over again today. Almost an action replay of 2 weeks ago but I was travelling much quicker this time. I was 22K into 29K with 22K at PMP and flagging little bit (ok a lot then) and I stubbed my left foot and when down on my right knee and elbow. I think I must be getting better at falling over as less battle scars and manage to complete the session. I might have to start wearing knee and elbow pads.
