Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Nah, just a few scrapes and bruises, I was quite lucky. Having a foot drop into a concealed hole is a standard peril in fell running and I've known it result in some horrific injuries.

Thanks AR. I find it best not to dwell on what could happen or I'd never run on the Fells again!

having a foot drop into a concealed hole is an ongoing risk just walking the dog wherever there are rabbits..

and talking of dog walks, I managed to stay on my feet up and down Bowscale etc yesterday (despite a couple of near misses on slippy wet stones) and running a loop of the local roads - despite them being mainly surfaced in mud/slurry or moss

and then slid on my moon taking the dog for a constitutional amble up and down the green outside the house.

Clipped a tree root on a trail today, and smugly congratulated myself on managing to get my balance back and not hit the ground.

You know what’s coming, right?

5 minutes later, on a descending stretch, clipped another one and rolled over at least twice before coming to a stop that time.

Fine - years of not being very good at judo mean I’m quite good at falling without hurting myself!

You probably shouldn't have said that CW!

I put a foot in a rabbit hole walking the dog this evening and went base over apex into brambles.

Really could have done without that.
