Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh crikey Gimme - is Lincs as flat as Norfolk? (I lived in Norfolk for a while. Boy is it flat!)

From our village we can see the Belmont transmitter 27 miles away and the Lincolnshire Wolds are visible from our back bedroom window (13 miles away) It's pretty flat with a few undulations from here to there. But there are a couple of ridges in the other direction that are miles wide so not everywhere is at sea level.

Realised that one of the many graphs on the Train page include 'weekly ascent in km' so although it doesn't give totals, and it's rounded to the nearest 100m, it'll help me to keep track of my 10k challenge.

If you set the timescale to the appropriate year in the training log, and select the summary page you can see your annual 'fetch measured' ascent.... 51k meters last year for me, so around 32 miles. Not sure I'll get much more than that this year, but could be fun to try :)

Lovely Mr Fetch has updated the thread title :)

The vertical 10k is a great idea. Far more sensible for many.

Nothing more from me this week, new job and actually having to commute is a bit of a shock to the system. Find a hill at the weekend I think.

Thanks mbln! It seems that in total, across running, cycling and swimming (:-0) I ascended 8144m in 2016. This includes 74 m while OW swimming. How did that happen? :-)

This looks fun. I racked up just short of 14 Km of ascent running last year. I was training/running Beach Head marathon so not sure if I'll achieve that again.

It's metres.
10,000m would be a reasonable target for me this year, in that case :)

About This Thread

The Y-axis botherers of 2017 :)

Running or cycling or (somehow!) swimming uphill in 2017. Monkey people with the ropes and whatnot also very welcome.

Customised targets are the way to go here, depending on fitness and targets and geography and mode of propulsion. Good luck all :)
