Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Currently yes SE, before my injury I had run up to 20 miles in my Nike Free V5 and been out to 100km in Nike Jasari and Nike Marathoner.

Currently I am running up to about 10 miles in the Free V3 and V5 and doing all my speedwork in Spikes or Race Shoes, I expect to be back into racing flats for long runs and marathons by April.

Mitch, I know you know the answer to this, but.... have you any idea how uncomfortable the table exercise is? I tend to put a desk diary between me and the table!

It is time to take responsibility for my own training.

Tonight I found your motto "Let the heel begin the wheel" very helpful and I refined it by removing the first two words, swapping clarity for euphony.

And ChiRunner, I am quite sure we wear rose-tinted specs when assessing our form.

Deenzy, I think that people who really need some sort of orthotic know this, because they will have a longer lasting foot problem that not only occurs when running. And sometimes it is a matter of trial an error to see if you can do without them. If you know you have a "construction fault" (sorry for the expression), you probably should not go without some sort of orthotics, at least not at once. It all depends on what the construction fault is.
It is not absolutely necessary to have the most minimal shoes in order to learn ChiRunning or to perform it in a good way. However, I think that it is best to gradually go down to less shoe, because the less shoe you have, the better the contact with the ground, the better the feedback from the ground and the easier it is to maintain good form. I think everybody should look for their own optimum shoe/orthotic-wise. There is not just one rule.

I was diagnosed as flat footed many years ago orthotics have been with me for years.

Only in 2005 did I get special made ones. I guess I do need them

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Chi Running is a running technique which was developed by Danny Dreyer an ultra marathon runner who is a long time runner and student of T’ai Chi. The two main themes are energy efficiency and injury prevention. It combines the central movement principles of T’ai Chi with the sport of running to create a technique that shifts the workload toward your core muscles, allowing your leg muscles to work less. The results are increased efficiency and a significant reduction in injuries.
