Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I also watched the video blog about stopping heel striking as well. My shins were sore last night so must have been dorsi flexing I was trying to hold that image of MsM running in my head. I've been out again and did the same route in reverse in my flites I ran a lot slower and without the metronome it felt like harder work but no shin pain. I did keep dropping the focus t my feet to make sure they were under my COG.

That's great, SE, you managed to run without the dorsiflexing. Or at least with less of it. If it felt like harder work, maybe you could try to take the metronome again next time? Perhaps you let your cadence drop. But it's good work to practice like this!! :-)

jamie, a metronome can help you increase your cadence, if that is necessary. Some people hate it, some people love it. It can be very calming, to run to a beat.... It is a great training help, I still use it sometimes, not to increase my cadence, but to make sure I accelerate with the proper technique when doing intervals on the track.

Hmm, so far my shopping list is looking like:

1. A Seiko DM50 Metronome
2. Some F-Lites 230 to try out
3. A Workshop session when i get some more transport next month.
4. A lot of patience ;)

Yes, but it will give you:
1. A lot of fun practicing your new focuses
2. A lifetime of injury free running :-)

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Chi Running is a running technique which was developed by Danny Dreyer an ultra marathon runner who is a long time runner and student of T’ai Chi. The two main themes are energy efficiency and injury prevention. It combines the central movement principles of T’ai Chi with the sport of running to create a technique that shifts the workload toward your core muscles, allowing your leg muscles to work less. The results are increased efficiency and a significant reduction in injuries.
