I'm more of a Speyside girl these days though used to like Talisker.

I tried some Balvenie recently that had been aged in sherry barrels. I don't usually go for speyside whiskies, but it was very good. Obviously it wouldn't please those of you that prefer your whisky to taste like TCP ![]() |

Another thumbs up for Talisker from me, I've just finished my bottle of Talisker Skye. I like the smokey ones too and currently have Ardbeg, Bowmore and Laphroaig on the go. I also have Ladaig, Singleton, a couple of Glenmorangies and a Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold, which is very nice. Must put a bottle of Talisker on my Christmas list! ![]() |

I had a bottle of Penderyn on the go a while back, not too bad at all. Glenlivet and Jameson Special Reserve on the shelf unopened. Talisker remains my favourite though. Love the petrolness of it, or TCP as Dochart describes it! |

Aye, Penderyn is relatively new (only started producing in the early 2000s) but I'm sure it's been awarded a gold medal at the world whisky awards. It has been my Christmas treat/tipple in recent years

I do like the smokey ones, the last Mrs O would buy me Laphroaig 10-y-o for an xmas treat. But liking that flavour means I'm also a fan of the less-sweet USAnian bourbons too (my bad!) I used to drop the hint with my brothers about what I liked, but they would always get some terrible mail-order whiskey for me so I've given up and treat myself to a bottle of something nice for the festive season. Last year it was Aldi's Speyside, which won some taste tests ( independent.co.uk ) although I think it was a bit too much on the 'petrol' spectrum for me. A very decent whiskey though, for the price. I'm tempted to try another of their offerings this winter. |

OH is a malt man and one of his favourites at the moment is a Glenglassaugh - Revival.

we have one or two* different bottles on the go currently. A very nice 30 year old BenRomach, though that is certainly for a special occasion. I really like the heavy peated stuff (cask strength Coal Ila, mmm....) but sometimes a soft easy drinking whisky is needed, and for that the dutch Millstone fits the bill well. We did the tour of Penderyn some years back, nice little place if you are in the area. *ok, might be closer to 15... |

OH has about 6 different ones on the go but the Revival was one he wanted again. He likes to try different ones. I taste them but never been a whisky drinker
