Or do their long runs at 8m/m, but barely go sub-4 in their marathons. Mind you, I imagine it grinds their gears a lot more than mine.

Luvvies describing the (self inflicted) passing of a fellow luvvie in terms of a global catastrophe. Yes a death is sad, and tragic, particularly for the nearest and dearest. However the man was a bl@@dy actor so please get things in proportion.
Michael Goves latest blatherings. Old wine in new bottles. Meanwhile my daughter, who had a pupil refuse to come to her lessons because he claimed not to be learning anything was expected to tailor her lesson to suit the little layabout who also hadn't done his homework.

Michael Gove's latest bletherings: So "Mr Gove says that he wants to push state schools further so that they become indistinguishable from private schools."
Right - just checked, the local private prep school charges £2500 per term => £7500 per year. I'm chair of finance on governing body of local primary school. Our total budget works out at about £4500 per child per year.
So is he saying that the private education sector is incredibly wasteful and should be able to do exactly what it is doing now with only 60% of the cash, or is he going to increase state school spending to private school levels?
No? thought not...

Ah, Gove. Where to start. I'm a parent governor and what wasn't reported is what he wants to "streamline" governing bodies for not just academies and free schools but LA-maintained schools as well, possibly also paying governors for their attendance. Out of existing school budgets, I imagine. He did also talk about his "legacy" yesterday, so let's hope he assumes, with the rest of us, that even if Cameron wins next time around, it won't include Gove.
