Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Revisionist history.

[I have no problem with David Beckham getting a knighthood, there are far worse people to have received that honour and he has also seemed to be a likeable, decent, hard-working fellow. He was a talented footballer who achieved considerable success at the biggest clubs in the best leagues in Europe, and in America. In that qualifying game against Greece, and in some other games around that time, his leadership and desire to win raised the level of the whole team which was underperforming given the quality of the players available, down in part to some uninspiring and safe coaching.]

Probably been said before, but discretionary tips added onto bills without warning! 12.5% on a £150+ bill ... just pay your staff properly from the word go Rick!

I used to stay at a hotel in London for work and after a long day I would sometimes get a glass of wine from the bar and take it up to my room. I thought it was just very expensive wine, took me a while to realise they were adding a 12.5% tip each time…

That I have to carry a pair of tweezers in my purse to pull the station car park tickets out of the machine, because the little perspex flap pushed in back up when you lift it. What the hell does everyone else do?

A really annoying radio add. 12 loud bongs, like from big Ben. Goes on for ages and takes up most of their advert. Then s voice quickly tells you that some estate agent is open until midnight.

Who goes house hunting at 11pm???

And the radio shows that play voice notes from listeners, which are prefaced by the alert tone used as a default on my phone.
