More than once we've pitched our tent in a near empty field, gone for a walk and come back to someone pitched right next door. The field is still near empty. I used to hate the campsites that allocated you a pitch, but now I realise they do a better job of spacing people out. (One particularly bad experience was we came back to our neighbours guy lines crossing ours and their dog in our porch. I don't think that site believed in fire regulations. Fantastic site during the week when it's quiet though.)
