I've been applying for loads of jobs recently. One I had directly relevant experience for every category - essential and desirable. Was told there were people being interviewed with more directly relevant experience. Really ... ?
Then I get an interview for a job where I'm missing some of the experience listed in essential and where I also completed a Dr Frankenstein (cut & paste) application on the day it was due.

My daughter's propensity for telling me she's going to "miss you when you die". This is what happens when you try to do The Right Thing and give them a grownup talk about mortality. Sometimes I wish I'd just done what my parents did with me, and left me to find out about it all in my own good time.

+1 for the odd reasons for unsuccessful interviews.
During the Summer I turned down the offer of an Olympic ticket* in order to attend a second inteview at a local-ish company. Interview went well (as told to me in feedback later) and I was then offered a tour with the current team
According to the HR wallah who rang me the next week In was unsuccessful as I had not asked enough questions during the tour. Which is peculiar as I distinctly remember talking to the team, the production staff and having to stop myself asking too many things as it was starting to seem as if I was inspecting their facility !

Perhaps it's just me, but I always thought one of the reasons for giving feedback after an interview was to help unsuccessful candidates in their ongoing job hunt. I've told candidates they were too negative, or their choice of words (don't call the firm you're interviewing with 'unethical') were the reason I didn't want them in my team. Giving bullshit reasons does nothing but salve the interviewers conscience.
On my way to another interview. So not in the mood for this.

oooh yes interviews and bullshit, last year i was the only candidate invited for a third interview, met the CIO, and everything.
Got a call back to say some of my skills weren't a good fit, for the second project they wanted me to do in 18 months time !!
Something funny going on in some of these places.

The relative who has been in my face all morning about an "urgent" death certificate for someone who is barely even cold yet. And in the funeral director's face too, judging by the tone of the call I had from the lassie in the office there.
I am within a hairsbreadth of refusing to issue (I could, if I was being pedantic rather than commonsensical) and making 'em all wait for a post-mortem.

fleecy
Frobester: it's entirely normal for kids to go through that phase, but it's not easy. Drivers who fucking text whilst driving. Unbelievably fucking dangerous and idiotic, and you see people doing it all the time. Why don't they just walk around with a fucking loaded gun while they're at it? Grrrr.

I often see that too, fleecy - and I see pedestrians walking along texting without any sign that they are looking at anything other than their phone then just step out into the road. I wonder: if a texting driver hits a texting pedestrian who stepped out without looking, who is to blame? Perhaps they cancel each other out?
