Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Right, who raised the subject of Ferrero Rocher? Thanks to you, I've now remembered that I was given a box for Christmas that has been sitting in a bag in a cupboard unthought of. There are now empty spaces where there used to be chocolates....

And the fact that the "minimal packaging" easter eggs cost twice as much as the bloody one in boxes :-O Why for crying out loud - there is less of them!

People who put their feet up on the seats on trains.

"Gear grinding" doesn't even come close, they make me go all "Falling Down." I'd like to hack their f*ing legs off with a rusty meat cleaver.

That almost kills me with rage too, Fitz. I really have to try hard not to kick their feet off the seats.

Thirded. And people who take up an entire double seat with their bag to make sure nobody sits next to them and don't make any attempt to move when the train/bus gets busy and some people have no seat at all.

"So, all this accountability stuff, when are people going to accept that the buck stops with them, and actually fecking resign?" "Oh, it's not a good idea to find scapegoats, but of course we do need to ensure that people are accountable".

Slippery bastards everywhere.

"Detoxing"

I got an email yesterday from the Times offering me an evening at Champneys for a 'detox workshop with expert therapists'. To detox, you need a liver, and perhaps drink water. There you go, that's it. The body is a very efficient machine, and it is very effective at 'detoxing' itself, without 'experts' or special diets or anything else.

Don't know about accountability but in the case of Stafford Hospital those at the top should be arrested and questioned about manslaughter. As should the staff responsible too.

It would be more exciting to use a petrol driven chainsaw on the errant passengers putting their feet on train seats, it would provide much more of a spectacle

I always read it as "Dettox", though I don't think that particular antiseptic, once much beloved of one of my sisters-n-law and simultaneously(and still) badly-needed by the other one, is available any more. It quite puts me off Champneys to think all I'm going to be offered/treated to is an outmoded detergent.

On the train thing: I make a pointed effort when I see people with bags on seats to sit next to them even if the train is mostly empty.

Fully kitted out cyclists on pavements. Why go to all the trouble of buying kit and being visible and having a posho bike if you are going to tromp up and down kerbs every 5 minutes and get in the way??*

*I cycle by the way so this is not an anti cycling thing, I just dont get why they bother.
