The whole week we have had noise pollution from a nearby building site. I was hoping to sit out in the garden this weekend... However: 6 am Saturday till 9 am banging and noise woke me up. Till about 2 pm Today it woke me up at 9 and lasted till 4 pm. Surely, there are rules about this??? I need a break from this noise! |

[Hann - any half decent construction company should be signed up to the Considerate Constructor Scheme. It recommends limits on hours worked - for the benefit of local residents. You can report companies to them if there is a poor record of disruption ccscheme.org.uk ]

["It recommends limits on hours worked - for the benefit of local residents" ] [Recommendations are exactly that, recommendations. Unless there is a local bye-law prohibiting times worked then there is no unilateral UK legislation that restricts times of work. Any alleged disruption would have to be assessed under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 as a statutory nuisance. That's not to say however that a responsible construction co. should be operating plant on a Saturday PM, Sunday or Bank Holiday ... ]. |

Work on a major upgrade to Oxford Station and associated roads and bridges has just been ramped up to 24hour working to achieve the original deadline at the end of October. The local residents, businesses and hotels are delighted!

Reaching up to pick an apple, only to find a neat little set of triangular holes pecked in the other side of it. So many spoilt apples as a result. |
