Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

(I really shouldn't say it, but no: church camp 'talent' show. I know, I'm a terrible person, let alone a terrible Christian)Talent shows, whether church camp or otherwise are probably best avoided. And no, you’re not a terrible person or Christian just because you can discern what is talent and what is talentless.

As the Sister says in "Derry Girls" after the Assembly performance: it's performances like that that make me realise how talented... professionals are"

The malaise that seems to have infected so many companies - NHS, council, utilities, banks and private - that means you're constantly having to chase them for replies to simple questions. Between my work and personal things I'm dealing with, I'm currently waiting for 7 different companies/departments to get back to me with simple Yes or No answers, but many of these have now gone on for weeks.

It's the excuse they use about experiencing 'high call volumes' or whatever that annoys me. What they mean is 'we don't employ enough people to deal with the business we generate.'

Every time I pick up a shovel full of garden mess a gust of wind whips up and scatters the mess back to where I'd swept it up from.

Delivery drives that park half on the pavement and half on the road. Blocking two avenues instead of one.

Ally-C - "Pavement parking ban
Having been proposed since 2019, the ban on pavement parking is expected to be made law as of this month. Drivers found breaking this law could face a £70 fixed penalty notice for leaving their car on the pavement, YorkshireLive reports." bristolpost.co.uk

Unless there’s a determination to prosecute it’s pointless imho.

I find that here, Scotland, in a lot of nicer areas parking wardens are about, but in less well off areas it’s like the Wild West, the East End of Glasgow is unbelievable.

Cars abandoned on pavements everywhere & red lights don’t mean much either.

My new phone, rather than telling me that the battery so many % full, presumes to work out that I'll empty the battery at some time of day, such as 3 am. It is much more infuriating than a sign telling me it'll take 18 minutes to cycle somewhere where it ought to say "2 miles".

having had a supposedly secure discussion on Signal and WhatsApp about hiring a whole youth hostel, I was shown an advert for hiring a whole youth hostel.

The only leakage point I can see is that I sent a screenshot of one of the conversations by gmail.
