Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

BT's automated message telling me how important "excellent customer service" is to them, immediately after telling me the call wait time is "in excess of 30 minutes".

Those two things don't go together.

Similar message from Churchill Insurance “ We’re doing everything we can to put you through to an advisor as soon as possible”. Yeah. Right!

Not bitter about not getting a London Marathon place but that I didn't get an e-mail full stop. It seems that despite getting the All Done acknowledgement when completing the form, I didn't get a confirmation e-mail. There was I along with thousands of others checking our in-boxes all day for something which was (and is probably) never going to arrive.

“Asking for a friend” 😡 It was only slightly amusing the first time I heard it. (Context: Email to festival organisers ... “Do you have sniffer dogs on the gates ? Asking for a friend who’s allergic to dogs.”) Five years later in completely inappropriate contexts, it’s not the slightest bit funny. E.g. “So is Covid over or is it half time ? Asking for a friend.”

[believe sniffer dogs at festivals are usually only a psychological deterrent as they’re usually overwhelmed by too many smells in the crowds]

[I can guarantee you they're not, Fields. Some years ago I got collared going into T in the Park with a tiny bit of weed. Result ? Sent packing with no refund 😳]
