Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It's when they reduce it to just 'regards' you know they're really furious with you.

I do this. I hate all this friendly bollocks on business emails, so reduce to just regards when someone is either arguing with me (they're wrong), or reduced me to maturely stick my middle finger up at the screen.

For the most part, now I work with people who would understand what it meant, I have had very few reasons to deploy it.

But I do often end up saying things like 'best' or 'kindest' because that seems to be the norm and everyone wants to fit in, really, don't we?

On the other hand, any time I have to contact a support service I always start the message 'dear lovely (whatever) team', and that's not terribly normal.

People who insist on having the last word on an email / text conversation by replying with some pointless two or three word platitude when the conversation was clearly done and dusted but which you are still obliged to stop your work to read, just in case it was something relevant (it never is).

People who don’t understand “use both lanes” and “merge in turn” when two lanes go into one.

People who pick up things in the supermarket, decide they don’t want them, then put them back in the wrong place.
