Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Food packaging, meat generally, where the cooking instructions are on the reverse of a ‘peelable’ label.

Non stick oven trays. Where the labels/packaging for the trays are demonstrably and very effectively attached with glue to the aforementioned 'non-stick' trays !

Oh - and then the retailers own label/price covering (and again, very well glued) the manufacturers model and batch number that I need to register to get the 10 year guarantee.

Sigh
The new-style motorway matrix signs, which from an unreadable distance suggest that there may be a problem ahead; only to turn out to be some sanctimonious messaging. Plus, why post "Don't Drive Tired" on a matrix sign that's about 20 miles from the nearest service station, on a stretch of motorway with no hard shoulder??

I honestly believe that the matrix signs cause 95% of all hold ups and traffic jams on motorways.

What ever the message, drivers brake, which causes a ripple effect, and a mile down the road, traffic stands still.

Tear them down

We used to be amused at the matrix signs on the M74 reminding passengers to belt up.

The matrix signs i find bizarre are when they warn you of a delay in a completely different part of the country.

I can be driving along the A30 in Devon when it warned of delays on the A27 in Kent, for example.

If those delays are still there in 6 hours there isn't much hope.

Exactly that - and that they don’t offer any suggestions to avoid the unknown delay….

I think they’re of use as it allows you to divert in good time onto primary roads. Eg A21 which goes London to Hastings, if coming from Devon you know in time to take an alternative route eg the A35 / A31 along the south coast rather than A303 / M25 / A21
